AISES is pleased to announce the availability of travel scholarships for students to attend the 2018 National Conference in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from October 4-6, 2018! If you are an American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander or an Indigenous person from Canada and are pursuing a STEM education, the AISES National Conference is the place to be! Attendance will allow students to explore the role of STEM in meeting the challenges of a global society and expand the experience and leadership opportunities of young professionals in STEM. Students will meet researchers, practitioners, and leaders currently engaged in STEM studies and careers. The AISES Conference will have over 80 sessions to choose from. Travel scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to engage in cross-cultural dialogues to share knowledge and network with STEM professionals from throughout North America.
AISES is grateful to its partners in making these scholarships available to eligible students!
Scholarships will cover the costs of conference registration fees, economy class round-trip airfare, and lodging (a same gender roommate will be assigned). Ground transportation, baggage fees, meals, parking, and incidental expenses are the grant travelers’ responsibility. Some conference meals will be provided as part of the registration.
Students who are awarded a travel scholarship will travel on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 and depart on Sunday, October 7, 2018.
To be eligible to apply for a travel scholarship, individuals must meet the following criteria:
Applicants will be reviewed on the quality of their essay and explanations of why and how attending the AISES National Conference will benefit them, the letters of recommendation, the student’s involvement with AISES, and the strength of their GPA.
Travel scholarship winners will be announced by August 2, 2018
Travel scholarship winners must attend all events and abide by the AISES Code of Conduct. Failure to attend all scheduled events and violating the AISES Code of Conduct will result in the forfeiture of all or a portion of the scholarship. View the AISES Code of Conduct.
We encourage AISES partners to share this opportunity and information with their colleagues and networks. For more information on this opportunity, please contact Brianna Hall at 720-552-6123 ext. 119 or email bhall@aises.org.
