With this panel discussion, the Society of American Indian Government Employees (SAIGE) is showcasing three members who work with Tribes using their STEM careers. The panelists exemplify the SAIGE theme, “Honoring Our Ancestors through Government Service” and will share their respective STEM journeys, challenges and positive outcomes along the way. Whether working on tribal greenhouses with solutions to challenges such as communication differences, serving as a bridge for tribal and mainstream science concerns, or providing input to policy decisions, you will gain knowledge and an appreciation for working with Tribes in a Federal career. Information on the SAIGE Youth Track and scholarships will also be shared. Panelists: Susan Filkins, DOI/Bureau of Land Management, Natural Resource Specialist, ID BLM State Office Tribal Liaison for Tribal Greenhouses Carl Etsitty, Assistant Director/Office of National Tribal Liaison, USDA-APHIS Duane Matt, Geologist, Division of Energy and Mineral Development, Assistant Secretary-Indian Affairs
